Dating from the late 19th century, an exceptionally carved, naturalistic frame from the Black Forest region of Germany. The frame is deeply carved from walnut wood of lovely colour and depicts a rusticated country garden wall profusely adorned with climbing roses and rosehips with other flora and foliage. A tour de force of the woodcarver`s art, ideal for a mirror, photograph or simple watercolour. Circa 1880.
* There is one minor repair to a leaf at the top of the frame using the original piece (see photograph).
